The Subaru Impreza is alive once again. We finished up the conversion to a manual transmission last night and drove the car home with little drama (well, except for that part where we stalled the car..the clutch take-up is a little abrupt)
We installed a Kartboy short shifter with stiffer bushings after we drove the car back to Per’s house. The original “old style” linkage was a little rubbery, the 97+ linkage was a major improvement and the Kartboy short shifter was better still, reducing throw by 40%. It came with a pretty nice aluminum shift knob. You can get the shifter as a “Super Combo Plus” with bushings and the knob for $150. Kart Boy
We’ll be driving the car around for the next two weeks, sorting out any bugs before our next Rallycross on October 1st.
