We finished our 2018 competition season up with a pair of high-speed time trial events at a couple of fun and challenging tracks. First up was the SCCA’s inaugural Time Trials Nationals at NCM Motorsports Park, where we scored a victory in the Unlimited 2 class after three days of combined competition. We closed the season out at a cold and occasionally rainy Roebling Road Raceway on Thanksgiving weekend for a high-speed time trial with the National Council of Corvette Clubs.
Time trials are a great way to combine the thrills of high-speed lapping of open track days with the intensity of autocross in the form of timed laps. Typically time trials require fewer safety modifications than wheel-to-wheel road racing, since there is no wheel-to-wheel action and passing is strictly limited and controlled. Still, we like to err on the more extreme side of safety, so we added some rollover and fire protection, and always compete in full personal racing gear with proper head and neck protection.
