Our MINI Cooper hit the 5000-mile mark this week and that means it was time for its first oil change. While the factory service indicator was suggesting that we didn’t need to change the oil for another 4900 miles, we thought it prudent to change it anyway. We filled it back up with synthetic 5w/30 from Castrol, which is one of the recommended oils for the MINI.

The MINI is taking a break from autocrossing for a few weeks. We’ll be co-driving Greg Lee’s MINI in H Stock at The Tire Rack Solo National Championships in Topeka next week. While Greg is supplying the car, we’ll be bringing out some Kumho ECSTA V710s mounted on Rota Slipstreams for us to use.
