Will we ever see video of this thing ripping around a racetrack or autocross course?
This machine always looks good when you fit it with a proper set of wheels.
Those Yokohamas fit beautifully on our XXR wheels.
The price is modest, but the weight is also good. This 17x7-inch wheel is less than 18 pounds. That's better than a lot of big-name wheels.
It took us a bit of careful spec-hunting and browsing, but we finally landed some wheels in the size and offset that suits our car. We went with the XXR 535, a newer design from the company. We were tempted by the gold color, but thinking ahead to our forthcoming red and black wrap, we thought this would clash badly. We opted instead for their intriguing chromium black color. Having now seen these in person, we’d describe it as sort of a polished gunmetal. We’ve seen these for sale on the Internet for between $130 and $145 apiece, so they’re very reasonably priced.
Our super-short tires are Yokohama’s Advan Neova AD08R. They’re wide, they’re sticky, and they have steel sidewall inserts which should provide excellent steering feel and response when we take this car to autocrosses and track days.
Here are the specs for our fitment:
Front:
215/40R17 tires on 17x7.0-inch wheels, +35mm offset
Rear:
255/35R18 tires on 18x8.75-inch wheels, +35mm offset
