SWMBO wanted a 4x4 for the occasional bad weather, and for hauling new finds home from her antique shop and estate sale escapades. I searched for nearly 5 months before finding a Limited (leather interior), 4x4, with antilock brakes (ABS). Quite the unicorn of options, ABS was only available on with the Dana 35 rear axle and most of the higher trim levels; Country, Classic, Limited, got the factory tow package which gave them the Chrysler 8.25 rear axle i.e. no ABS. We searched for so long, and I had to drive close to 400 miles one way to get the thing, before we left on the road trip I made the comment that “Ahab & Ishmael were headed out to bring home the elusive white whale.” Since the XJ is white, the name Moby kind of stuck. It’s currently in the queue of projects with big plans awaiting it.
