Retired Oregon State Patrol car #202. I bought it in Dec 2007 with exactly 120K miles. It now has 142K, competed in autocrosses, HPDE's, and 1/4 mile drag racing winning me my first Season Championship. My daily driver with ice-cold A/C, great heat, a good stereo, and reliable as a good dog (as in it's NEVER let me down!). It's been road-tripped to Bellingham, Medford, Sacramento, and Coloma.
Cost: $2450 for the initial vehicle purchase, less then $6000 total investment.
Future: Headers, pulleys, hi-flow cats, new brake calipers, and maybe cams...
Introduction by Wally!:
You look in your mirror and take a deep breath. Is it that sadistic sheriff that made you strip to your underwear and walk back to town from the middle of nowhere when you were a kid? Maybe some meth-crazed cabbie that will try to run you and your family in to a ditch?
Lucky for you today it's neither. What it is, is the last real American car. A V8 up front, the drive wheels out back, the way God intended it to be. Not some sissy tin box with wheels, but a real body, bolted to a real frame. 300 horsepower, and brakes and handing Deputy Feif could only dream of. With all those goodies, who cares that the back seat smells like urine.

No road trip is worth doing without some quality tunes. I picked up an on-sale Kenwood deck. I don't know much about stereos, but it has CD (including reading burned discs), MP3 (through the USB as seen here with my ...
Well now, this ought to help the nighttime visibility. Yes, I changed the bulbs too. I went with Silverstar's for extra brightness/throw. Went ahead and changed the markers and blinkers too. I like the new look, it's aggressive!
Getting ready for the road trip next weekend (Longview, WA to Grass Valley, CA and back, about 1300 miles round trip) so I caught up the old 'Vic on some maintenance. Fresh oil change with Royal Purple 5W20 and a ...
OK, so the picture is actually on the way home and totally staged, but I thought it looked cool. John is driving back from Packwood after winning his class (STU), granted he was the only one! ;)
I put 17x9 and 17x10.5 FR500 replicas on the P71 with 245/40 and 275/40 tires. Front is straight bolt-on, rear is a 2" adapter. New tires are coming soon (255/50 front with 285/40 rear) as are 3/8" front spacers on ...
Even on short, tight, twisty tracks the P71 can hold it's own. More importantly it can take 5 helmet-shod adults for the rid of their life. It's always the star attraction.
Went drag racing on 7/18 and nabbed runner-up overall. I was *almost* the pole-sitter (best R/T in qualifying), knocked off a great 1st round to earn the semi-finals bye run (odd # this week), and darn near had the final ...
Sweeeeeet! The old girl got Internet Hot Rod of the Day! Thank you GRM! Here's a pic of me holeshotting the snot out of an EVO for your enjoyment ;)
Well the new axle is in and I replaced the ABS sensor so all is well with the P71. I took the opportunity of sunny weather and an empty house to get some much needed mods/maintenance done. I finally did ...
For the first time in the 15 months since I bought the P71 something actually failed! I thought I had a rear axle seal going out but it turns out the bearing had started to let go and chewed up ...
