After driving it i decided some changes were needed: 1. different ring & pinion [as it was geared too low] 2. changed to car transmission [replaced pickup transmission] 3. changed to ford pickup I beam axle [for better appearance as the Jeep axle was really ugly] Changed from Willis brakes to Ford pickup ones. 4. built a new engine for it as a wet sleeve was leaking and I wanted a set of stronger rods and a head which is easier to work with. While I was at it I placed the engine several inches lower on new mounts. 5. replaced the heavy Jeep steering box with manual rack & pinion and replaed its dangerous long straight steering shaft with several short shafts and u joints. In doing so I discovered that when a rack is inverted, it turns backward. So I made a gearbox to reverse the steering direction.
