Just before I had to go back to the UK for a short trip, one of those annoying death rattles started under the hood. I thought it was the air pump as they tend to go wrong and decided to do something about it when I was back.
Trying to drive it to the local Chevrolet dealership resulted in lots of smoke from under the hood so we had to get it towed there. Diagnosis unfortunately switched to a seized alternator - had to be, it was the more expensive component - but with that an a new belt fitted, we’re back in business…
