BETTER BRAKING

update image

I decided to better my braking on the Typhoon. I installed LS1 rear disc brakes. I purchased the park brake shoe backing plates for both sides. I found some brake parts on craigslist. The did the usual steps for removing the axles and seals to gain access to the drum backing plates. And after the old stuff was removed, the new stuff was ready to go on. Since my park brake backing plates were new i needed to buy longer grade 8 bolts to bolt up the backing plates. Asside from that, the installation was pretty much straight forward. The original brake line threaded into the stock LS1 brake hose and was snugged down. I used 2 brake line brackets that were left over from a repairs at work and bolted them onto one of the 4 backing plate bolts. I bled them out and put everything back together and drove it. they stop great! I can tell that the rears are a little more aggressive than the fronts. That is the next project.
