Dec 31, 2011 update on GeneSplicer's 1991 Mazda Miata Turbo

Re-Make

Well, another year passed by quickly, just seems not enough track days to enjoy the miata. Late fall, I installed a 60trim wheel and upped the boost to 20psi - still on the internally stock 1.6L engine - and put down 274rwhp/244tq. The ‘99 head I had purchased to mate to the ‘94 block (for E85 build) ended up being a victim of a lost trush bearing - there was LOTS of scoring inside the lifter bores. I didn’t want to chance a stuck valve ruining my entire engine. So I purchsed a VVT head with Megasquirt VVT controller. Also replaced the Walbro 255 with a Deutschworks DW300 and installed the sport rotor kit on the rears. Also currently purchasing a GT2871R with a Tial Vband housing, Absurdflow low-mount manifold, DP, Tial WG; this V-Band setup will be awesome and easily support up to 400rwhp (not that it’s what I’m doing). Last Road Atlanta weekend I sheared 3rd from the 5spd I installed back in May, now I have a 6spd to go in, as well as a 3.6R&P to replace the 3.9 I have currently mated with the OS Giken. Car is on stands,no trans, no diff, no suspension or control arms as I’ve got an ES bushing kit on it’s way. The Koni sports where shot on all corners, still saving the coin for some Xida Sports from 949. I hope to get the miata back to running by end of Feb ‘12 - the engine won’t be completed by then as there are tons more supporting mods needed for the E85 project. Thanks for checking in, hope to update more often!
