New shoes & burnt copper

Well, I finally got over to my buddy’s storage unit to get the wheels off my 280Z. They definitely stick out a little too far, but I’m sure the engineers at Nissan never planned on putting a 0 offset wheel with 225mm tires on either. I think I may go down to a 205/50 at some point, at least in the front. I’m thinking I might even try the staggered look for a while. I think once it gets lowered (hopefully soon!) I will also need to roll the fenders, and maybe pull them too. Or maybe some bolt on flares would look nasty?!

I also changed the valve cover gasket since it was puking oil, and while I was at it I thought I’d add some color to the engine bay. I wanted a random, but complementary, color for the valve cover. I was thinking of going with gold, but when I saw “Burnt Copper” I knew that was it. Although I could have spent some more prep time on it I am please with the results-let’s see how long it holds up.

Now I just need to get those dumb stickers off the back…the Harbor Freight heat gun I just picked up should help with that. :-)
