1981 Fiat X1/9 (Euro model)

61

I have owned this 1981 X1/9 since 1988. I found the car in south FL and purchased it from a nice English lady who lived the winter in south FL and returned home to Derby GB in the warmer months. She imported the X1/9 from GB in the early 80s on-board the QE2. This was the cruise that recalled the QE2 back to England so that they could use it to transport troops to the Falklands. It is an English spec, right-hand drive car and has been completely tuned to my personal taste and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. I am currently doing some upgrades and next spring, the X will sport dual DCOE Webers in place of the DCNF set-up. I am also doing a complete custom leather interior. Some of the mods include sway bars front and rear with Jamex springs and Koni struts. I have an original, signed by Al Cosentino, Campy wheels. I personally picked them up at his house and took them on the plane home with me. He said that they were the very last new set of that style of Campy in the country. The interior has been completely upgraded to leather/suede and is much nicer to spend time in than the original Fiat plastic. The engine has multiple updates including an electromotive ignition system, hot cam, dual DCOEs, major head-work, higher compression, header, balanced and lightened flywheel. My X weighs in at around 1900 pounds and handles great. You can see more pics at http://gallery.italiancarclub.com/124og/Bretts_album/
