1995 BMW M3 427 FrankenBimmer (Now LS7 440 C.I. August 2017)

14

My mission is to develop the outer limits of the road racing capabilities of the E36 BMW M3. I do DE’s so no rules & no spec. Hint #1: Roll cage built for 1000 RWHP. All looked good on paper two years ago and the reality is beyond expectations. Have been testing in incrementally increasing stages. In 2008 ran a Chevy V8 LS6 350 ci with 400 RWHP & Torque…ran great all year. Chevy V8 LS3 bored and stroked to 427 ci with 550++RWHP & Torque ran the 2009 year…we will see where that takes us. If you are an old guy like me, you remember the CanAm and TransAm cars with 600 to 1200 HP…will be interesting to see where we end up. Who knows, after 2009 shakedowns, may see us at the 2010 GRM Ultimate Trackcar Shootout!!!!!! Thanks to the guys at Eurosport Automotive of Plano, Texas and Dallas Performance of Dallas, Texas for keeping FrankenBimmer in one piece. HKE engine, StopTech brakes, Ron Davis radiator, Ground Control suspension, AST coilovers, CCW wheels, Hoosier tires, BimmerWorld parts throughout and Sparco/Simpson/SafeCraft safety equipment. How much horsepower at the wheels? Any problems with the stock diff? Testing over the coming weeks...have a Ford Cobra 8.8 and/or Dana on the board just in case...for roadracing, believe stock LSD diff with brace will hold up...drag racing would be another story...but I don't drag race, so no worries!!!!

In 2008 with 350 ci, 390 RWHP and 390 RW torque. As of May 2009 with the 427ci, 520 RWHP and 500 rw torque...and that is with a very conservative "testing" tune. Expect 550/550 rwhp & t on 93 octane. I was wrong...just toasted E36 M3 LSD diff (3:23 to 1) at Motorsport Ranch Fort Worth...redesigning for Ford Cobra 8.8 Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) diff.

Thats one wild BMW. I'm 65 and remember can am & trans am cars. I have a Bmw thats a street car, but close to a race car. I need more HP and have a built 93 350 Chevy and a 5speed I thougt It would be wild, but it'll be nothing compaired to you car. It's awsome! Can't have to much HP!! I love it!! Nice rear end. I'm looking for ideas to replace mine.
