Why go all the way to the tire shop to get tires mounted when the tire shop can just come to you?
That’s pretty much what Tire Rack is offering with its new mobile tire installation service.
Is it truly easier than going to a traditional tire shop? We try it out.

Comparable in price or not, I'd much rather pay someone to come to my house to have tires mounted.

My grandpa's tire business offered remote tire mounting in the 1930's. And he didn't invent it.
The trucks had an air compressor mounted on the engine and an air receiver under the truck bed.

Tangential question from this:
How do you like the Continental terraincontact H/T tires on the Ridgeline? I'm debating between these and the Michelin Defender LTX for my '17 RTL-T. Any towing experience yet with the contis?

Has my first experience with the mobile tire installation, excellent. I had Falken 295/40-18s installed on 18 x 11 wheels. This is the only way I'm doing tires from now on. Originally tried using tire shops and the first half dozen couldn't handle 11" wide wheels.

If you are in the southern cal area, zip tire is a great service and has been doing it for years. Owned by Andrew Comrie-Picard (a contributing writer at grm) they do a fantastic job.

I have used a mobile company at the track before. There is someone out of Columbia that sets up at CMP on busy weekends.
At home, I just do them myself.
