The Akina Pass from Initial D may not be real, but it is based on the very real Jomo-Sanzan Panorama Highway. These mountain passes—commonly referred to as "touges"—are popular with drivers thanks to their sharp turns, steep inclines and narrow roads.

The road.......ehhhh. I guess I've gotten spoiled with the great canyon carving roads of the front range here. I remember better roads than that in Japan.

I'm no engine expert, but I'd pin it as the Toyota 4A-GE.
It's a great sounding engine, especially with a set of individual throttle bodies.

Mentioned in the video description is they only ran to the Skate rink as to not disturb the town below.
so there's a bunch more mountain pass they didn't show. Here's a Photo of the pass with MY MS paint red dot placed where they turned around in the video..... and the red map marker showing the starting line.

You need to slow time down so that every corner takes about 30 seconds of introspection. Then cut back to that FC driving old fart who blathers on obliquely about strategy and tactics while his hangers-on struggle to figure out what he is implying.
I would not mind an Initial D Zero, all about Bunta's exploits. I mean, yeah, it would be a foregone conclusion that Fujiwara would win, but still. Takumi exists, so there's the romance based side plot they always have to have. I bet Bunta drove an 18RG powered Celica.
