Well I haven't had time to touch this poor car since the 4th of July , and with the building project I won't be doing any work on it for at least another year or two. That, combined with the fact that I'm not getting rid of the Miata anytime soon & that I still have a Jeep I haven't touched since I got it on Easter, and it's time for this car to head on down the road...

Details

It's a 1962 Pontiac Tempest LeMans, with the 195ci "Indy-4" 4-cyl (1/2-a 389 V8) and 3spd rear transaxle with independent suspension. The car has a rebuilt engine - supposedly bored .030" over, decked & ported - though I haven't pulled it apart. It has a rebuilt Edelbrock 1405 4-barrel carb, new cap & rotor, and new vacuum advance. New rubber fuel lines & filter. It runs & drives good, though I haven't had the chance to drive it very far, so you're on your own if you want to drive cross-country in it!

It has new hard brake lines, rebuilt master & slave cylinders, and relined shoes. New front shocks, and 4 brand-new tires. I custom fabbed a swaybar for the rear, cut the coils, and coated the tank and rear underbody with truck bedliner too.

The body is very solid, there's one hole in the floor, one small hole in each wheel well & that's it. It has had new metal welded in the rear roll-pan & a couple other places. There's still some small dings/dents that will need addressed if you want it to look nice...and it really needs to be painted the same shade(it looks better in person, believe it or not!).

I have the rear bumper, but it needs straightened & chromed - or I also have a Nash Rambler bumper I was going to modify to fit.

The interior is really good. The seats are nice & the headliner is still intact, but splitting at one of the seams. The windows work very smooth.

Tons of spare parts, including a complete front subframe, and the original numbers-matching block. Many rare/hard to find parts, including a U-joint for the drive axles, rear tail lights, trunk lid, etc.

If my apartment next year had a garage I'd be all over this. Good luck with the sale. Have you posted it on sissynet?

Trade for a '77 Chrysler Newport 400/4bbl or a '95 Roadmaster LT1 sedan?

Kankakee is right between us...

More details on the 77 Newport? I have absolutely no need for anything like that....

It is a very solid and original Chicago car. Some rust on the trunk floor right behind the wheel wells. I am the 3rd owner and I was told that the 52k miles shown are original and haven't rolled over. From the condition of the car, I'd totally believe it.

It has a 400ci with a 4bbl carb and Lean Burn, which seems to be working ok. It's green metallic on green cloth and vinyl with that bitchin' 70s paisleyesque pattern on the seats.

The factory rear bumper had a lot of pitting and rust through the chrome so I bought a rechromed one and it looks much much better.

The A/C works, the heat is roasty toasty. It has a Realistic cassette deck with faux wood to match the faux wood dash. I think everything else on the car is manual, and, thus, working correctly.

I need to go take some pictures of it - the Readers Rides pics are the only ones I have right now.
