Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested a North Carolina State University student last week who was accused of creating a "monster" out of construction barrels and placing it on the side of the road.
Authorities charged Joseph Carnevale with larceny for taking materials from a construction site at a roundabout project to create the monster.

They arrested him for that? They should put him under contract to build those for other constructions sites.
I too give that young man props for creativity in a hurting economy.....how damaging was this? If they added a "slow down" sign, it might slow drivers in the construction areas.
Better than those stupid "my daddy works here" signs

As a former NC State student, I am proud of this, nothing like this ever happened those 4 years when I was there though.
There is a better article on NCSU student newspaper, The Technician.

Two words:
Awe. Some.
I bet he gets hired asap. That's freakin' genius.

Seriously.
"I was arrested."
"Why?"
"They said my art was too dangerous."

This one rules.

I don't klnow how he painted that tube, there is a constant 4-5 mph wind blowing out of each of those tubes. Those are under Gardner Hall on the NCSU Campus.
Not to say it isn't cool - but those barrels do belong to the traffic control company contracted to the job. They were stolen, so it's a legitimate charge.
Now, he didn't destroy any with this one, so that's a different story.
That is just too berkeleying awesome. People need to lighten up.

LOL he should get an award.
It's funny that he gets charged with making art, yet he's been seriously trespassing in blog for quite some time.
The creations are pretty good, I like em. But it wasn't his property to mess with.
If I was the construction company I would give him the barrels to make them. I guarantee people slow down for the Monsters just because they are cool to look at. There would be a "monster" at every construction site I had.
Of course in that scenario, he wouldn't want to build them anymore because it wouldn't be unlawful.
What do you want to bet that something like this shows up commercially soon. He should get a patent QUICKLY!

Those are awesome - if I was tied up in traffic (yet again) due to construction... seeing those would totally make my day.
my wife wants to know what the hell i was laughing at that just woke her up.

I can't figure it out either. Maybe he used a Brilliant Revolutionary Unheard-of Secret Hand technique...
