If Starquest is mentioned, I'm sure they've known abuse. They are 25-year-old boyracers. It would be amazing if they weren't abused.

Two cars for that prices seems great.

I owned and ice raced one a decade ago or so. It is a very nice car once you clean up the age related issues and convert some of the engine vacuum and electronic controls to easier to manage things. When I got it from my older cousin it ran rough but was a simple vacuum hose replacement away from running fine. AFter that raced it and gave it to my younger cousins to have as their first car. Unfortunately they sold it without telling me, I would have wanted it back.

Maybe worth it for the beater level Rallycross car. Or heck a decent Challenge car package.

  • Oil lines to cool the turbo can become leaky or clogged over the years so they are rebuilt because the ends are unique things that you would have to have custom machined to replace exactly. On my car I had a school bus brake, oil, and fuel line repair contractor manufacturing my replacement.
  • Factory rear hatch glass with the word TURBO on it. Like finding the green miata with the special dark wood shifter knob instead of lighter birch wood one. Just a thing in the Starion world.
  • Horsepower in a box MAF translator is just an old brand if I remember. Kind of like "AEM EMS" would cause confusion if AEM went out of business 16 years ago.
