We Focus on the Track

Body roll? What body roll? We were worried about scraping the front bumper off on hard corners.

The Focus is also playing the role of our daily driver. It's now been to the race track, and to the RaceTrac.

After its stint on the dyno, it was time to take our Ford SVT Focus to the track. The objective? See if we actually like driving this thing, and see what it posts for baseline times. We drove it over to The FIRM in Starke, Florida, put on our helmets, and went to work.

After way more laps than its failing clutch should have been subjected to, we reached a verdict: This is a really, really fun track car. No, it isn’t the fastest–but it’s so easy to drive.

It does need some work, though–besides finally replacing the clutch, we see some sticky tires and fresh shocks in its future.

Did somebody mention they were having issues with their front hubs while on track?

Out of all the cars I have ever owned the SVT Focus always made me smile. Best FWD car I have ever driven.

I just picked one up yesterday. It seems like a great car so far, but mine has a few minor issues I need to sort out. Is the stock flywheel extremely heavy? It seems like the motor is very slow to drop the revs between shifts.
