I don't know if yall have seen this before but I thought you would enjoy it.
1. I believe that is a Dyane in the first picture, not a 2CV. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
2. If we're going to show 2CVs and Amis (and Dyanes) – and why not, because everybody needs a smile on Monday – then I think the thread title should be "Relatively high-speed Citroen cornering."

Yup, I used to have one while skint back in the UK
You'd be surprised at how much speed you can carry while tacking, err sorry cornering in one.
None of the faces you see in these photos appears to be frightened. I can only assume they have ridden in those cars enough that they are used to it, because a list to starboard like that would have me grabbing for the rail.
Asking from a complete lack of knowledge: (1) What classes would a 2CV/Dyane or a DS be in for Rallycross, meaning what would they be up against; and (2) would such an idea make the slightest sense?

They would be up against any of the FWD classes (stock, prepare, mod). You could likely make one competitive in mod with a lot of work. Yes, you should do it.
We bought an Acadyane for a shop runaround. We thought it would be cool with our logo on the side. Besides, when a French delivery van comes up for sale locally you just kinda have to buy it
After I got it going we each drove it to pick up some stuff. We both decided never again. It wasn't just the lack of power. We are used to underpowered cars. It wasn't just the terrifying amount of body roll but scraping the door handles at 2mph was possible. There was just some combination of factors that made it the worst vehicle I have ever driven. Zero roll couple on the leading and trailing arm suspension made it feel very unsettling in everything it did. The 2 cylinder motor might have had 20hp but it certainly felt like less and the brakes while enough to pitch the car forward just didn't stop it very well, not well enough for city traffic at least.
It was so disappointing because I had wanted one for multiple decades and was ready to fall in love with it.
Been there, done that.... The really cool thing about the car was that when you hit the brakes, the rear end would squat down to help minimize dive. It was a weird feeling. Oh, that, and we had installed a "marital aid" for a shifter...even though the car was an auto, we used the shifter a ton to select the gears and help slow the car, so I became more familiar with it than I had planned.

I must be broken, because I read your post as though it's a dare, and now I want an old Citroen even more.

You Crap-canned a SM? Wow, not sure if sadened or delighted. Great cars, love to see them but sad that it may have ended its days like that. Any more details?
