Wonder how they went from 4X4 to 2WD, remove the front drive shaft?

Probably removed the t-case and a 2wd drive shaft installed. Haven't heard back from the guy. Looks reasonably clean, though.

Reinstall  4x4 trans and t-case, and it’s worth way more.  Those are rare

Where to find t-case and trans, though.

Looking at bed wood kits. Wow, prices are a lot higher than I thought.

4X8 sheet of aluminum diamond plate is cheaper.

But not as kool! I actually like the look of a wood bed. How do you tell if this has the big or small I-6?

Needs gas tank. Only runs on portable tank. According to the guy, It needs everything, but no serious rot. It is missing the t-case, front shaft and has a 2wd trans. Probably highway gears in the rearend.

That's a little six, either a 230 or 250. The 292 had a taller block, taller side covers, and a large coolant bypass hose on the front of the engine (among other things).

So, 140 bhp. Is there any reasonable way to extract more hp?

I had a '64 C-10 with the 230 and three on the tree. You don't really want a ton of horsepower in one of these things. It tried to kill me a different way every day for about three years. I do miss it though.

from any 60's to 1987 chevy or gmc 4x4.  if manual it's originally an sm420 i believe, but an sm465 would work.  if auto i'm not sure what designation 1964 had but a th350 or th400 is going to work.

Right now it's a 3 on the tree that was moved to the floor. Boy, this thing is really tempting me. Woody, please share a couple of attempted murder stories (or, would it be manslaughter, lol)

Still cheaper than a girlfriend.  Just buy it.

The C-10 has long rear trailing arms (not sure about the K-10). One of mine failed catastrophically and I had instant, uncontrollable four wheel steering, on a narrow tree lined road. The dash is unpadded. There are no seatbelts and the steering colum is not collapsible, so it's like a spear pointed at your heart. They have a single circuit drum brake system, so when one rusty brake line develops a pinhole, you lose all four crappy brakes. The driveshaft has a center support bearing, which failed every few months. If the front of the driveshaft drops, it will dig into the asphalt and the rear end will pole vault. As a bonus, the gas tank is inside the cab.

Aside from that, they are awesome trucks and I would love to have another one.

LOL! You mean it's an american vehicle built before the 80's. When I was a kid we had a 1966 Caddy Fleetwood. On our way home, once, we came across another caddy that had run into a very large oak tree. The front passenger was on the hood, the driver was entangled in the steering wheel, and the 2 back seat passengers were covered in blood. We immediately transported them (this was the early 70s) to our local doc (he lived about 2 miles from the accident).  I think they all made it but this is burned into my memory.

When I drive anything built before the 80s (American) or 70s (rest of the world), I treat them like a motorcycle, as they are about as safe in an accident. Heck, maybe even more dangerous.

I know. TO justify it I'd probably have to sell the 93 Super cab long bed 4x4 IDI I have.

Needs a Dr side door, front fender and cab corner. Has a fiberglass hood. May need an engine, water damage. It's a long bed. Where would you look for a 230 or 292?

The stock t-case is a Rockwell t221. If I don't care about originality the np205 is a generation newer.

Turbocharger, or put a SBC in it like normal people do, a 283 to be period correct.
