It's actually a Sunbeam Rapier and I'm not sure if the Ford V8 bolt in comment is real. I don't know if the Rapier and Alpine shared the same structures. It's still an interesting prospect if someone really wants to be different.

I see a huge rear wing, lowered on coil overs, with a set of 17" wheels for this...

This isn't a 911 ;)

As I recall, rapier is a wholly different deal, and you'd be far more likely to fit a mopar 2.2 than a Ford v8 in one. I think there was a real alpine fastback. Looked kinda DB4-ish. May have been a one-off.

I had one of these. It imported in 69 and 70. Uses an Alpine series 5 drive train in a Hillman Hunter body. At least that is what I read in R&T that I hunted down to read the write up about it. Not a great car but entertaining to drive. It will pick up the inside front tire if you push hard enough.

I autoX it in H stock back in the late 80's. It was only about 8seconds off the pace of the local hotshoes Civic, running flintstone tires on 13x41/2" wheels. I miss it some days.

It got totalled by a pick-up turning right from the left lane.

It is NOT related to the earlier Alpine/Tigers.
