I saw this on the Richmond CL last week and went to check out the car today. I have the usual not enough time excuse for not buying it myself.

The car is a true grey market car. All the gauges, dash, etc are in German. The PO drove it to the meeting spot and I listened to it run while we talked for about 15 minutes. To my uneducated eye it looks solid. There is some rust around the taillights, rear wheel wells, and floor pan but nothing extensive that I could see. Mostly original except for some aftermarket stereo speakers. No AC. Aftermarket wheels. The tires are old so will need to be replaced.

If I had the time I'd snap it up and drive it to the Challenge just for fun. Then, I'd get it as close to original while making it reliable as a driver. Hot, classic look.

They're great looking cars, but they can outrust Fiats of the worst period. Very important to check the front inner wings as it's not uncommon for people to discover scary amounts of rust once they removed the front fenders.

Thanks for the tips BoxheadTim. I DID NOT check the inner wings on that car.

I thought that I would be a smart donkey and slap up a google image of "inner wings", thinking that it would it would be insect anatomy pics. Much to my dissapointment nearly all the hits on the first two pages were cars.

Don't worry I worked for a British company for a while and it takes some time to get used to "Brit-lish"...

My old boss, from north yorkshire used to say, "We're two countries separated by a common language."

That works both ways and it's even more confusing (albeit a little easier IMHO) if English is not your first/native language.
