Does it have SCMODS?

If this car is decent (and I shouldn't say this, because I might be interested, depending on condition) it would be worth a minimum of 2 grand.
you've got to be kidding me. they get crushed as fast as a forklift can ram them into the machine around here. solely on the basis of it being an interesting combination of parts i'd put it squarely in the 1000-1500 range. in all honesty, the whole is worth a lot more than the sum of the parts. nothing on that car is rare or even really that desirable.
I'd honestly be happy at 2000. I could part it out locally at $600 for the engine, $500 for the tranny, $800 for the rear, crush the body for $400 plus other odds and ends I could sell off it. But that's not what I want to do to it.
The body just has a little rust, as noted before. New fuel pump, plugs, wires, cap button, all filters, front tires, coil, resistor. Runs smooth. Needs a master cylinder and a muffler. Excellent interior and 97k actual miles.
It would be an excellent sleeper. I'm too big to drive it comfortably and I just don't have the resources to do it justice. And, frankly, it would get me out of a tight spot.

I have to wonder what the attraction would be to an '85 5.0L H.O. engine at 165 hp when tied to an auto trans.

By '00 even the smallest Mustang V8 was putting out 260 hp

I didn't want to say anything about the parts prices but the last 5.0 I bought was $300 from the pick and pull. Its an 87 H.0 with 83,000 miles from a clean wrecked Lincoln. Came with the full motor, all accessories, AOD trans, harness etc. Bought a 5 lug 8.8 LSD from a mustang for $200 pretty recently as well.
That being said I certainly think its worth more than $500 and may be worth $2000 to the right buyer.
neither the engine, transmission, nor rear end would bring anything CLOSE to what you mentioned. don't part it. throw it on ebay with a well written ad and lots of pictures for $1,500 and see what happens.
You might be able to get $1500 for it. It's an interesting car, but interesting doesn't always mean valuable. Maybe take it for a cheap Mako paint job, clean up the interior, and ask $2k for it? How long has it been sitting? Move it and cut the grass underneath it before you try to sell it.
