Here is the formula:
- Acquire S52 + trans + driveshaft for less than $2500
- E34 pan + oil pick up + dipstick ~$150
- OBD-I harness + 413 red label ECU + intake + MAF ~$200-250
- fabricate motor mounts from $2 of aluminum
- Buy Raceland headers + bunch of mandrel bends and a couple straight 2.5 lengths from Summit and a universal cat ~$200-260
- Know the magic for making all the wiring stuff work, the exhaust clear and so on.
- Sell engine and trans in it for $750
- Take the original cats to the recycle center for $90
- hoon
So how much in labor would you want to do all that?
(only slightly joking...)
I'm also amazed this is still here.
I don't need another car.... But if this was in Atlanta I'd have it in my driveway tonight!

Too bad you're so far from Denver...
If I wasn't a furloughed federal employee (and had room for a THIRD old BMW in my driveway....)
Good luck, and happy you're moving along to something more agreeable to you!
Though I suspect we will still have to hear you whine about "my old e30" once this one is gone

Perhaps... although the actual quote may be "my $%^^&$! old E30..." I don't really think they're bad cars, they just need too many changes to work well for my autocross-focused desires.
CEL in the TDI last night (Surprise! Actually... it has been awhile...)... So I need this car either gone or fixed so I can get the TDI off the road.

Yes, we have lots of e30s here with little rust. But we also have a lot of hellaflush fanbois trying to get 4k for a clapped out car that has craptsstic mods. $2013 for a tastefully improved one with simple to fix issues is unheard of .....

The car does run and will go under its own power. I moved it Sunday to get the Mini out of the garage and then back again at the end of the day...
I'm about ready to say "berk it..." and just get it fixed...

If you take it on an 8 hour or so test drive going south down i85 I will give it a $2013 home! :)

Add gas and a plane ticket and you might have a deal. Bearing in mind the car gets about 15 mpg right now... ..oh yeah... I've done the Philly to Atlanta drive a few times (I'm from Atlanta and my grandparents lived there until the mid-90's). I've done it in one shot, but it wasn't fun... and I was 20+ years younger...

If it didn't cost so much to get it trailered out to me in Denver I'd take it off your hands.
SWMBO just smacked me for showing her this. Trying to win her over now. It'd match the E46 nicely.

they need less changes for rallycross though!
if you still have this, would you be interested in trading for a 1999 miata rolling chassis? has torsen LSD. I used to be huge into miata's but i've always loved and wanted an E30.

If I wanted a project, I'd just keep this one. Note my signature...

I love e30s & will be my next project. Wish you were close to Idaho.
If I was closer, or thought it would make the drive back to Oklahoma you would already have the money.
