Price/trade update: see post below.

Selling my 1994 Chevrolet C3500 since I don't really need a truck anymore.

Here are the highlights:

  • ~129k miles
  • 1994 C3500 Single Rear Wheel, 2wd
  • 5.7L (350) V8 with TBI
  • 4l80e transmission
  • 14 bolt full floater rear
  • Hyrdo-boost brakes
  • 4.10 rear

Tons of new parts in the last 10k miles:

  • Borgeson steering shaft
  • Distributor
  • Distributor cap and rotor
  • Plugs and plug wires
  • TPS
  • IAC
  • MAP sensor
  • Fuel pump
  • Fuel pump relay
  • Fuel filter
  • Front brake rotors and pads
  • Passenger side front brake line
  • Passenger side exhaust manifold
  • Oil cooler line
  • Wiper control board (intermittent works properly now)
  • Alternator
  • Fan clutch

The bad:

  • Oil cooler line still leaks a few drops.
  • Seat is worn out to the driver's left (where you slide in and out)
  • Tires are getting thin
  • Blower doesn't work on lowest setting (I have a new resistor pack for it)
  • Drivers door switch doesn't turn the interior lights on (I have a new switch)
  • No tailgate and the body is banged up all around. I won't detail it all but this was a work truck and looks the part. The bed floor is not smooth and there are dings and scratches all over.
  • Seems to sometimes have a shake at ~65. I'm basically holding out to do tires and front shocks at the same time, see if that resolves it. Runs smooth at 70+

On the plus side, the truck still runs strong, is a pretty rare package (2wd, SRW, regular cab), and is ready to tow. Does at 13 mpg local, 14 or so mixed, 15-16 all highway. I would encourage anyone to come inspect the truck in person. It's not mint, I'm not trying to represent it as such, and I'd like the buyer to be happy.

Challenge priced, obo? Interesting trades? There must be someone out there who needs this. I'm a fool for getting rid of it, but I have limited parking.

Somewhere in Vermont?

Ah, yes, apologies for the lack of location. I actually live in Reston VA now. But I might be able to work with a buyer a bit.

If anyone wants a 1 ton in the VT region, I still have an '84 SRW up there :-)

Any interest at $1500, cash in my hand?

Realistically the truck needs tires sooner rather than later and I'm driving my Caprice full time now. The radio reception is a bit weak. A little bit of wobble at certain speeds, could just be the wheel/tire balance. There is a good bit of weight on the wheels.

Except for being a 1 ton, this truck is surprisingly easy to drive around, even in the city.

The real question is how can I convince my wife this is a good idea?

SRW is cheaper to run than a dually, and you aren't paying the diesel premium, so you are clearly making out vs. the alternative of a 1 ton dually diesel Just gotta baseline at the other end of the spectrum (huge-est truck instead of no truck).

Don't I know it! This is a badass combo with the 350 and the 4L80 instead of the 454/dually. It'd be way better then my swb Dodge for hauling. Seriously thinking about trying to get it past the budget committee!

That actually looks like a really good deal. Pretty low miles compared to what I have seen on most other trucks.

I've been driving this raging chick magnet all week. It's actually pretty handy in the city. Since you sit up high and there's no tailgate, you have a good line of sight to the rear bumper. Makes parallel parking not too bad (caveat: you still need to find a space big enough).

If a buyer wants me to slap on new tires or something to that effect, I can arrange to get that done ahead of time and just add the cost on top.

Anyone have an interesting trade? Escort GT/Protege LX, DA Integra, super boss Neon, mini truck, whatever. I'm reasonably fickle, but I love hearing offers
