Seeing the jeep win the autocross was awesome! The sucker vette and the zambomi were both epic.
I think the q45 was important because it showed that a normal car with a good story could do well and it spawned the special classes.
Bugzilla! Enough said...

I don’t have any place here in challenge history yet, except wishing i had begun earlier all those years of trying to get challenge efforts off the ground.
No one is making a living building or racing Challenge cars. Folks have come and gone as the season of life changes their curcumstances. College, illness, employment all factor in. You may be new to the circus, but your new blood is needed and appreciated. I am confident you will leave a mark in the history book. It won't be easy...believe me I know. Took 11 years to get our first win.
After having so much fun last year I don’t think winning is a goal anymore. I got a new welder and don’t have a trophy case. I think goal has changed to have fun and do it my way, and a win might be the fruit of that philosophy one day. Vacation isn’t a place to get too serious. Hanging out with everyone and playing with cars is way more fun than stress.
Speaking of history, if anyone can send me a picture of the blurb on the blue Datsun from the $2010 challenge coverage issue I would appreciate that, so i can use that as the before to show how far I took the car.
If I could get pictures posted, I have a fun one for you.
Text it to me i’ll upload it
Did you know?
8. That the Team that ran the FTD in the Auto-X in 2017 has a checkered past. That's right. The school has a 60+ year history for auto racing. But in the early days they were into .......Gasp!!!......Drag Racing! ...... Thud!!!

What A great Photo Of Ga. Tech Car. I can Guess about the ERA of that pic but Dude's,' Team Uniforms' Now that's a Class Act. The young Ones on here Have to know In the Late 60's Early 70's Team members still wore T-Shirts to the Races and the Drivers Too.I Have to Guess that Photo was 50's

I had one picture that had 1958 written on it. Unfortunately that batch of pictures got lost when my computer crashed a few years ago. The Club was apparently pretty strong. They appeared to be a sizable group in one of the pictures. The picture above has the overalls. The group picture had jackets.

And now they just have a dirty old couch.

Save your trash talk for the trash thread.
Did you know?
9. That cars manufactured by Mazda, Dodge and Ford have been part of all 18 Challenges? BMW, Honda and Chevrolet have all missed 1 year each.
The three that I would have expected to be Top Three were Not.

That couch was a riot when they first brought it.
Now, 6 or 8 years later, it kinda makes my skin crawl.
The couch thing wasn’t trash talk, it’s genuinely part of the history. It may have more pictures in the magazine than any single challenge car that didn’t get a feature article

I'm pretty sure only one v12 has ever run the challenge...
I'd bet 2 rotors, i4s, i5, i6, v6, v8, flat4, flat6, have all been run. Even electric has been run.
How many 3+ rotor? i8s? V4? V10? Three cylinder (only running on three does not count you loopholers - stampie I'm looking at you)? Two stroke? Diesel?
I'm curious about what variety of engine configurations have run.
In reply to Robbie :
I don't know. But I'll throw some engine trivia out there starting tomorrow
Electric has entered-but not run.

Only half true.
Electric hybrid has run.
True-Gasoline/Electric ran in the autocross and drags and Human/Electric rolled around the parking lot.

I don't recall anything electric actually on the car!
I remember pushing. After that, my memory gets fuzzy!! Lol!

An impossible question to answer- how many cars added boost to a car that didn’t have it?
Likely all the "Most Spectacular Failure" Cars anyway, Turbo and or Nitrous.

Mine had turbo AND nitrous added. We did not win Most Spectacular Failure!
