I don't know. But I'll throw some engine trivia out there tomorrow

An impossible question to answer- how many cars added boost to a car that didn’t have it?

More than one.....not impossible....just not as accurate as you may have hoped  smiley

How many cars have won the challenge? (I mean, any cars to repeat?) And how many engines? Both layout v6, v8, etc, but also has any single engine won the challenge more than once?

Did you know?

10.  That 11 of the 18 Challenge Winning Cars were powered by an engine originally sold by Chevrolet or Ford?  Chevrolet has 8 (44.4%) and Ford 3 (16.7%) .  Dodge and Honda have 2 each.

11. That 3 of 18 Drag races have been rained out.  2002, 2007 and 2011

I'm pretty sure only one v12 has ever run the challenge...

I'd bet 2 rotors, i4s, i5, i6, v6, v8, flat4, flat6, have all been run. Even electric has been run.

How many 3+ rotor? i8s? V4? V10? Three cylinder (only running on three does not count you loopholers - stampie I'm looking at you)? Two stroke? Diesel?

I'm curious about what variety of engine configurations have run.

There was a V4 there in '08, but it never ran. frown

Did you know?

12. That there have been (5) two time Challenge winning teams and (0) three time winners?

Of those two time winners, only one  won with the same car (1999,2001 Mike Guido)

Of those two time winners, 4 times the wins were won back to back.  (1999,2001) (2003,2004) (2012,2013) (2015,2016)

Of those two time winners, only one team did not win back to back.  (2010,2017 GT Wreck Racing)

13. That the longest and shortest Auto-X were run in back to back years?

2004 FTD was 54.442 seconds and was held on the road course.

2005 FTD was 29.657 seconds and is the only event that was under 30 seconds.

The Longer the Better Too me, I think an event should last Longer than you Can Hold your Breath,Aka Drag racing, Or a Short Course. Sometimes Just Remembering to Breath is a Part of the Chore.

Likely all the "Most Spectacular Failure" Cars anyway,  Turbo and or Nitrous.

The 2002 winning car was a 2002 with an added blower.  It didn't fail.

The 2004 FTD car had an added turbo, it didn't fail.

IIRC, one of the winning overall Hondas had a very nice turbo add, too.

I think there were a lot more success added boost cars than failed ones, by a pretty wide margin.

The autocross venue changed a few times, which made a big difference.  The first few were in a parking lot near GRM HQ.  The rest have been at the Gainesville track- but 2003 and 2004 were on the small road course in the back.  Some pretty high speeds on those courses.  That was the course the 2003 V8 Miata did really well.

And rain slows things down a lot, too.  2002, 2007, and 2011 have slower than typical times due to the weather.

I think a 440 powered Neon got the trophy one year, and I don't think it was boosted, just a torque monster.

No. No turbo of Nox.  I was just trying to highlight that it was far more than a standard Neon.  Also pointing out that the 440 was far more power than the Mustang rear end was made for.  A Mustang GT of the Fox body 4 lug bolt era probably made less than 200 ftlb tq.  Far less than a 440 wedge out of an RV.

I was kind of pointing out that adding boost has been pretty common and successful.  Some more than others.
