Man I want to do this...
Next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, at the Iowa Speedway in Newton, IA. Here's the details, if this link will work. http://www.chumpcar.com/event_pdfs/IowaNCSupplements.pdf
Oh, and we've got loaner gear if you don't have everything you need. Well, as long as you're an average male.
So how much would it cost total for someone who hasn't ever done Chump before? I have a helmet but that's it. What are all of the fees for new drivers?
The only additional fees are a $50 license and a $25 rookie school. If you hold a license in any racing sanction you don't have to do the rookie school. One of our drivers that can't make it is about 6' tall and probably 175lbs or so, so if you can fit into those clothes we've got a suit you can use. Also, the helmet has to be full faced and snell SA2000 or newer. If yours doesn't meet those requirements, we've got a helmet you can use too.
I have a full face helmet that meets the snell rating. I would have to do the rookie school, so total the weekend would be about $700 for 4 hours of track time?
I'm from Sioux Falls SD so the drive isn't too bad...
Yep, $675 will cover all the Chumpcar and team fees, and you'll get approx. 4 hours of seat time. They also have camping areas and showers at the track if you don't want to get a hotel room.
Gear check ends at 5pm on Friday, but if you're using all our gear(and since the driver fees are already paid) you really wouldn't have to be there until Saturday Morning. Although Friday would be preferred so you can get fitted for the car, practice getting in and out of it, and learn what all the switches and buttons do. Also if you're using your own helmet that would need to be inspected by 5pm friday, but they may make an exception and do one last late helmet inspection. Let me know as soon as you can!
Actually, you will probably need to be there on Friday because of the Rookie School. I'll find out what time they are holding it.
You'll need to log in to post.
