Based on the matching last names, the winner was here at the house on Friday to drive and check out the car.
Seems the car will get to the track after all, which is good!

I am pretty confident it will go through...we'll see.

The $3250 finish was pretty close to this prediction.

Wow... For a 4 dr, non 's' version... But I suppose rust free E30' s around Philly are somewhat rare.

I suppose $3000 ish isn't to bad, but I won't let mine go for that. I'm starting to realize I over paid for the car, but I've done enough to it to fix the issues it had that I'd like to hope its still worth about that much (around $5k).

Got Paid! Buyer just left.
The morning email said he would try to free his schedule and get the car by Weds. By mid-day, he was talking about picking it up today.
Though he may have really just been in a hurry, I think he was eager to get away before I changed my mind. I think he knows he got a good deal.

The car was bought by me on the coldest day of the year. It was actually -5 degrees the day I bought it. The CL ad went up on a Thursday, I found the ad on a Friday, spoke with the owner and made an appointment for Saturday morning 9am. The seller had placed a poorly worded CL ad that only said "BMW 3 Series." Never did it say 325is or even 325 which likely kept it off peoples searches. I could tell by the picture it was a 325is.
He asked 2,200, I offered $1,500. We agreed at 1,800. It was damn cold out, the negotiation happened that quick. I figured if it would even start/drive on a -5 degree day, it would be a good car.

At the time, I was getting paid $0.50 a mile to drive my own car for work. I proceeded to quickly put 6k miles on the car without investing a single dollar. After factoring gas cost, the car was fully paid for.

Over the years, I dropped about a total of $1500 into improvements.

$1,800 purchase price
$1,500 improvements

$3,300 total cost of ownership
$3,250 sale price

Free car (on a car that paid for itself again in work mileage)

That's my kind of Grassroots

I would say $2500 for an early diving-board 325i like yours in that condition. For that condition on a late "s" car it might get up to $4k.

If you get $2500 I'd take it quick. My e30 was $1k and I drove it home with a truck full of spare parts and VERY little rust. Granted it's an early 318, but engines are pretty cheap for e30s....what people really want is low rust and other things in good shape.

Just my opinion though....not sure what your market is like there. You can find e30s all day long for under $2k around here it seems.

EDIT: looks like you sold for a good price, nice job.

Here in the rustier states the ones you find for under $2k are the ones you don't want.
