Come get it
deal of the decade right here. Trying to talk my cohort back into doing the challenge either this year or next year, and this would be phenomenal to start with.
Talk him into it yet?
Supposed to have someone coming to look at it next week. Also have another guy interested in just the drivetrain, but it would be nice to sell it as a whole to someone who will use it for the challenge.
if the first guy doesn't work out, I would definitely be interested in the roller, price permitting with the drivetrain going to the second guy.

he's not going for it, I'm trying to find a car just to wrench on so I don't do anything else to my daily driver now.
Going to the store to buy lotto tickets in a minute, will keep you updated
Added more pictures that some people had requested. They can be found here.
This hasn't sold yet!!!
Anyone in Central IL (mahomet) want to form a challenge team to get this thing done?
Still not sold. Someone is coming to look at it tomorrow with the intention of completing it for the challenge.
camaroz1985 wrote: That is correct. Both the Subaru and Porsche axles are included. My thought was to machine, and sleeve them together. A friend does this for CSR and DSR cars, and was going to take a look at them. He also mentioned the possibility of machining the spline for inside the CV bearing on to the shaft if the shaft was bigger and the included angle made it possible, but we never got to looking into it that far.
Sleeves are bad. Ask me how I know! Of course, they'll work as long as you don't put any power through them, but that's not a fun solution. I highly recommend figuring anything else out.
A note on the above: this is the design analysis of a part machined and welded perfectly, so it's better than you could do in real life. It's just one solid part, and you can see there is a big weak point where the sleeve meets the smaller axle. This is exactly where ours would fail before we found a beefier solution.
I talked to my friend, and he seemed confident that it would be fine. He has done many axles like this. He did mention that the ideal way is to sleeve and pin the axles. It is his business to make axles so I would take his word on it.
Car is still for sale.
Subaru EG33 collecting dust - check
Cash on hand - check
Within an hour of Harrisburg - check (if the cops don't stop you )
Space to put it - ugh
The garage is getting built this summer... For my sake, I hope this is still around then.
If you only want the 914 chassis I would be willing to separate. I have a guy that will buy the Subaru drivetrain now, I just was reluctant to sell one part of the puzzle without having a buyer for the other.
Knowing that I'm not ready to pull the trigger at this time, would I be able to get a quick look at this on Saturday? I'll be working in Hershey that morning. Probably done around noon?
Email sent to Hocrest.
