Man, I'll admit that I cringed as I hit that link, given the thread title.

Totally not what I expected. Pretty cool.

With or without a VIN?

I'd guess there's no VIN, but this is Michigan and you can register damn near anything.

Same with MN. Looks like a helluva starter/candidate for a Miata chassis to me.

Would make for a different "kit car".

I'd hit it. Hard.

I'm sure you could convince the DMV that it's a customized Chevette pretty easily; swap VIN tags and call it an El Caminette.

I like it because it would have the quality of an oem job over a hack. Then again this was a cheap chevy from the 80s.

Still dig it.

Find a British supplier of parts for a Chevette 2300 HSR and build a rally pickup with a couple of hundred horsepower. You could even fit the HSR's box flares (but that's for the other thread !)

That is absolutely begging for a rotary swap with Miata suspension.

there was a kit car back in the day of a chevette pickup. that was awesome and I really wanted one. kind of still do...

Why does everyone want to swap an LS engine into cars it would make totally useless? lol If I got that it would get an isuzu turbo engine most likely, which would probably fit without cutting/welding anything. IMO, if you have to actually modify the shell of the car, in most cases you either have the wrong car or the wrong engine. Not always though.

+1 for the turbo ecotec. But where could you find glass? Kind of a deal breaker for a street car...or not?
