I am a one hit wonder. After several failed attempts at a return to Gainnesville, I'm out of gas.
After some failed attempts, i.e. FWD V-8 Cadillac in the back seat of a Geo Metro, a Corvair wagon capped over a Monte Carlo frame & SBC 4spd., I'm done. I took occasional breaks to get away hence the Naked Goldwing and the 650 Yamaha Chopsicle.
My apologies to Andrew Nelson who sold me the shell.
This is a 1968 Ford Cortina, a British car about the size of a Datsun 510. We have a GT model, note the goofy fog lights and lightweight aluminium wheels.
This one has been trifled with ....
The rear axle is a Ford 8.8 posi with 2.73:1 gears. OK with small diameter wheels.
The engine is a Supercharged 3.8 V-6 mated to a 4 speed manual with hydraulic throwout bearing. The cam (thank you Quasi) boasts 340 horsepower. The heads have been "gasket matched" but nothing special. I believe it will be more than enough for the weight of the car.
The engine has been relocated about 18" aft. The steering likewise has been lengthened and the driver sits in the torque box where the rear seat passenger put their feet.
The body is is pretty rust free for its age and very solid.
I can't anticipate your questions but I can answer most anything. If you need additional photos let me know.
I have about $1200 invested.
I don't need your sister's Miata and probably don't need another unfinished project, but give it a shot.
I have a clean Title.
Dan

regretted not getting it from Andy the first time 'round....regretting not having money to do it this time round.
Ya wanna keep the drivetrain and have an MGB rolling shell in trade? LOL
Damn, if you can find a buyer for the roller I would be interested in the engine and transmission. That's the combo I want for the RX-7.

As luck would have it, I'm selling a trailer also.

Now you're just being mean.
Hey Dan,
You still have my/Yavuz's old Rally Metro?? Wow I hadn't heard anything from you so I thought it was gone. I may be interested in buying it back.

Did you do the batvan in your avatar? Where is that thing now?
The Metro is gone.
The BatVan is sitting behind a VW shop in Round Lake, NY.

Details on trailer? I need one, my trailer daddy is moving away.

Not a great picture but you get the idea.
Brand new last year. 3" channel iron construction, 1/2" aluminum diamond plate deck, 2" receiver. Ramps ride on rollers below the deck. I have fenders but removed them due to the pot holes in Michigan where I picked up the VW.
6 X 10 foot deck. 3500 lb. torsion axles, no brakes. From Michigan to NY you wouldn't know it wasw there. Pulled it with a V6 4-Runner.

I'm really glad to see some other folks interested in this, I'm desperately seeking professional intervention for my automotive ADD.
If someone else buys it I won't have to.
Is it a Ford or a Lotus?

Someone else who gave it a good home. I'm in his ear about the Challenge, we'll see.

I have >$650 in steel, aluminum, coupler, bogey wheel and torsion axles.
$500 for GRMers. Registered as "Home made" in NYS, under 999lb.payload like a landscape trailer. Cheaper to register and insure.
I will say the fenders look nice.

If you want the shell, I may want the drivetrain... and/or know a guy in NJ who may be interested in the S/C'd 3800... and I'm more or less between the two of you in PA.
If you guys are splitting out the shell and the drivetrain... I'll take the whole IRS setup with the diff (if its LSD). I was just thinking how awesome that would be under the back of my E30.
