Jaynen - I'm not Trigun, and I've never raced with him, but in case he doesn't want to answer publicly that's accurate from what I see around on the chump forums and what I've paid as a driver. I've heard that it's up to 350/hr for a "damn near guaranteed" podium team.
Price depends on the series, track, and entry cost. WRL and AER are usually more expensive to run then chumpcar. I usually look at the expenses in a race weekend and divide it between myself and the drivers. My experience so far as a owner just looking purely at running a race, it's soo much cheaper to rent. My rates are close to what is mentioned above. This weekend at WRL event the team next to me with the same car charged X4 more then I charged renters. Racing is not cheap even when you call it "crap can racing". In addition their are some pro teams around the paddock as well. Competition is becoming tighter and you essentially have to run you car flat out each stint.
Yeah I didn't mean to pry. I was offered to drive with a local team and realizing after I buy safety equipment it would still likely be a 1k+ weekend for me as a driver sort of reality checked my idea of driving race car vs buying another HPDE car for a while

Yeah racing is expensive! A $1000 weekend is pretty cheap when talking about endurance racing. You can guarantee that the car owner is subsidizing that. I've had $500 weekends but we were racing a true crap heap that spent more time off track than on.

True dat Bro!
We typically charge around 1K for 2 stints.
Next year, the cost is going up. Im tired of subsidizing everybody elses racing.
Sorry for the threadjack!
We're in pit stall 10 with "team sterm" (don't know those guys), next to biohazard.
We're not camping, and we didn't get a garage, so I'm not sure where we'll end up. It's a black and orange Nissan 240, chubby gecko motorsports is the team name.
Any idea where you guys are setting up?
In reply to WonkoTheSane : We are Pit Stall #9, not sure where we are going to park in the paddock. Still on the fence of staying in a hotel or camping.
We are camping in an rv. We are gms racing. Look for the ugly red and gold rx7.
Pit stall 15 iirc. My name is Rob.
Looks like the hotel was booked by the time they tried to reserve it for Saturday, so it looks like we'll be camping over the weekend.
My name is Aaron, FYI.
Hey, I'll be at Pitt too! I'll be dumping fuel for Logdog. I checked this thread to "research" since I want to drive eventually and am curious what different teams expect from a driver.

You can come talk to us. We have a junior driver development coach (who is also our junior driver we are trying to develop).
He can tell you what we put him through and what lofty goals we set for him when he is racing with us.
Oh, and if you want a beer, I will make him get it for you.
You'll need to log in to post.
