I waited too long to order the 200tw tires I could afford, so I'll be rolling on 300tw and I'd like to go faster.
So, if you plan to be at challenge, and have with you or can bring a set of wheels with sticky tires I can borrow for the autocross I will be hugely grateful.
The car is 5x4.5. Standard ford stuff. It came with 15s so I'm sure most wheels will fit as long as the offset isn't too high. Less backspacing is better. 245 or more width if you can, there's room for lots of rubber.
I should have at least $800 left in budget, hopefully more, so most used tire/whee combos should fit in "budget".
I can pay a small rental fee, or buy you a burger. Thanks!
If you dont mind letting me get my runs in i don't mind letting you borrow or rent mine. Whatever is allowed to keep it within the rules.
I have not tried the offset on a mustang but the bolt pattern is the same. Wheels are 16x8 with 245/45/16 hoosier a7 on them. So tire wise, i don't think you can get a better one lol.
Those A7s will be better but I'll have some Toyo R1Rs on 15s also. Mine would be a ~$150 budget hit using the Stampie Rule.
Oh good point. Under stampie rule. It would have to be FMV for ky wheels and tires. The tires i bought under the exempt set. The wheels came with my car when i bought it. Paid 600 for the roller. Have 50ish left to sell off the car to zero it out. But ill let everyone determine the fmv on them.
These are near me (close to challenge) and have newer 5x114.3 lug pattern.

The value should be what the purchase price is not FMV. Long story but that's why there's the rule.
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
Is the purchase price whatever i set it at? I only mentioned fmv because A. I dont have a lot of recoup on my car and B. They came with the car when i bought it.
I'm planning to bring 2 sets of 5x4.5 (114.3). You're welcome to borrow either one at the Challenge.
- 15x8 hub bore 71.5 (Jeep)
- Super worn BFG Rival 225/45R15 200tw
- FMV $40 for the wheels
- 17x7 bub bore 66.1 (Infiniti)
- Pretty new Riken Raptor 225/45R17 300tw
- FMV $70
Stampie, that $150 budget hit sounds great. That may be the winner. We'll talk.
Maschinenbeau, I'm not sure what center bore I need, those infinity wheels have way too much backspacing though. The tires I just ordered are those same Rikens. Are they reasonably decent? I figured they wouldn't be great, but maybe they are ok..
Surfshibby07, those Hoosiers would be the best tire, and I don't mind waiting for you to finish your runs. If you can establish a value on the wheels, I'm sure we could work something out.
Everyone, thanks for the responses and offers, I'll be in Florida Thursday evening (22nd) and we can talk better then.
The Rikens are pretty decent! Definitely not a 200TW autocross tire, but for the money they're good. I paid under $300 for them shipped new.

After tax I paid 350 for 245-45r17s. Definitely not bad. They wer my pick from the start until I saw some 200tw for $130, but tirerack doesn't have a full set and we're heading out on the 17th and time is tight.
In reply to barefootskater :
I think the value on the wheels is about 100 bucks. they are not a name brand wheel and i have seen similar wheels in that price range doing a quick search.

Oh ... you have a special case. I would think FMV in that case. Best to establish that beforehand so that if they are borrowed the budget hit is known.
