Sorry, everybody, but you're going to have to have fun without me this year.
I learned I'd had a confirmed coronavirus exposure last week, and while I tested negative on Saturday, I'm now experiencing some minor symptoms that could be related to COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, and an interest in keeping everybody safe above all else, I'll be staying home from the $2000 Challenge this year.
That doesn't mean I won't be present: I'm still your point of contact with questions or concerns, and I'll still be involved as much as possible remotely. Fortunately we have a fantastic team (that we've kept heavily compartmentalized for just this reason) on the ground. I'm confident the event will go off without a hitch thanks to Nancy, JG, Chris, Colin, David, John and our team of volunteers, and I can't wait to see the photos and videos from everybody's efforts.
Have fun, everybody, and I'll see you next year!
Thank you for looking out for your fellow humans. I hope you don't get sick and you stay healthy and safe.
NYN
Honorable choice, and here's hoping the symptoms are psychosomatic!
Heal quickly. Hopefully it's just normal seasonal crud.
Someone should arrange a "street legal challenger parade" by your house.
Feel better, hope you dont feel worse! You are doing the right thing.
You will be missed. Does this mean Nancy will tell me No! twice as much as usual? I'll drink one for you tonight.
Dang. Get well soon, Tom.
You are an awesome man for tapping out. Hats off to you, and all of us pre existing condition folks thank you.
That had to be a tough choice. Much respect. Stay healthy.
Sorry to miss you, but your health matters most of all. We'll be thinking of you.
Do you have a test pending?
That is sad to hear. I appreciate all the work that you did to make this event possible this year. And thank you for all the help with questions that you answered for me along the way. See you next year!

Better safe than sorry. Hope to see you next year at the event.
If there's anything I can do remotely from up in MD to help out, let me know. I commend you on making the right choice, that is painful to make, even though I know the decision wasn't difficult for you to make.
If you need any quarantine/isolation ideas, I suggest "My Summer Car" it's a cheap computer game that is basically an alcoholic Finnish teenager attempting to build a rally car on a challenge budget.
That is a bummer. We wish you a speedy recovery. I assume I should just go to the check-in tent for a replacement windshield banner?
Thanks for the well-wishes everybody! Sorry for not responding sooner–there's still a lot going on today with the $2000 Challenge officially here!
Andy, yeah, Nancy should be able to slip you an extra windshield banner at registration.
Hope you're feeling better soon and it's nothing serious. Man, I hope the world's in a better situation next year, I really wanna make the 2021 challenge.
Sorry to hear this. Get well soon.

That's a nice piece of planning and management-well done. Hope you're back in action soon!
Hope you recover quickly. Major bummer.

Thanks–yeah, it's a little weird communicating 100% via Microsoft Teams, but necessary to keep everyone safe. The only time we see each other in person is for our twice-a-week Chinese buffet visits (kidding, kidding... I can dream).
Any updates on your condition? Thinking about you Tom
