ok great, now i've got more to think about. off to look for another cheap ls4.
i believe the only hood i have is the 81+ so it won't work on the 77 without the whole front end swap. i do have a new core support, used fenders, grill, lights, to do the changeover to the 88-91 suburban style nose.
let me know if you come across any ls4's in the mid-atlantic you don't want to travel for.. The correct stock isuzu bellhousing means I can bolt one to the stock a341e trans in my volvo 960.
there's one on ebay right now $750 buy it now, 77k with free shipping in philly. tip: do not search LS4. search impala 5.3 engine.
i'm just going to keep adding here instead of starting something new.
wrecked 05 rendezvous - make offer
1992 3500HD looooooong wheelbase. rusty cab, no battery. starts right up and runs but last time i was moving it around the yard the oil psi went to 0 and it started making noise, which is sad. 454/4L80e/dana 80. awesome chassis donor for a tow rig build. 19.5 wheels, great tread on recap rears. clear OH title in my name. $800 firm
99-06 silverado/sierra/avalanche/? combination foglight/bedlight switch new GM in box $45 shipped
17x8 vision tech 8x6.5 black aluminum wheels with hankook dynapro tires, exactly one year old, 4k miles, $725
If someone were ambitious enough to swap a new oil pump into the 3500 would it make a long road trip?

i can't promise anything but i shut it down right away. i ran another 454 low/knocking 10 miles to the parts store and it was fine for 20k+ miles afterward. it may be as simple as sludge on the pickup. i drove it home 20 miles at no more than 50mph. the trans worked great. when i got it home i realized the back brake line is crimped off, so that would need replaced at some point. the brakes work fine but it's front only, so the rears try to push you around when sitting. the bed isn't bolted down but that could be pretty simple.
it may be an ambitious proposition end you could die or it might be like toyman and drive right home with minor issues. either way it might be a neat story.
