So in full confidence in my ability to be ready >24 hours before the flag drops at the challenge this year I am planning a bit more Casual drive down to the Challenge. I'm going to break the drive up over 2 basically full days and target being onsite at the BWGG around 4ish.
I live about 6 hours from Nashville. I have never been to the Lane Motor Museum. I plan to rectify this on my way down.
I'm traveling down October 20th and expect to be onsite at the museum around 1:00. The museum is Open from 10-5, So I will plan to explore the museum for the remaining open time that day.
Anyone passing through is welcome to join me. I would love to meet any Local Nashville GRMers as well. I will obviously have the LMP360 in tow on my way so If you wanted to check it out it's a good chance if your not making the adventure to Florida.
I'm going to reach out to the Museum mainly to see if they have any of their obscure Subaru stuff on display. I plan to get a picture of the LMP360 in front of the Museum. If we got enough people together or anyone happens to know the museum organizers we maybe could see about vault access?
TLDR: Nocones+LMP360 Lane Motor Museum Oct. 20 ~1-5pm.
If I wasn't already going to be in FL by then, I'd detour over on the way down. That's one of my favorite car museums.
Oh great museum. While not a close friend, I have had enough interaction with Jeff Lane to know you will get a warm reception. He will probably want LM360 afteer you are finished with it too!
I stopped by on the way back from my folks place in Missouri this past weekend, highly recommend!
Convenient to get to off the Interstate, and lots of neat cars to geek out at!
Random Pictures:
In my first and only trip to Nashville a few years back, the Lane was most certainly my favorite and most memorable part. They self describe as the "museum of bad ideas".
I would call/email ahead to see if you can arrange for a tour of the whole facility including the cars not currently on exhibit. I imagine some pics of the LM360 might be enough to catch someone's attention to get the full tour. I was lucky enough to see these as they typically do a once a week tour where you get to go downstairs to the garage area. At the time it was a once a week or once a month tour on which they show everything.
I love that ALL the cars are drivable and do get driven by people who work there.
It's a pretty awesome place. Glad to see others enjoying it.
