I was wondering if it would be feasible to use an FM transmitter like THIS, maybe paired with an antenna like THIS, to add more announcement coverage at the Challenge? Does anyone have any experience using stuff like this? I do not so this is just a bit of spitballing, but it would be great to possibly have coverage of the results in the pit area.
Way ahead of you--we bought a massive new PA system for this year, so sound should be much improved without needing FM transmitters or anything.
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Yay. Now we will know when we are late to grid...
Would also be nice to have announcing and timing at the drags too. It was pretty disappointing trying to spectate drags without being able to see or hear who won.
In reply to Tom Suddard :
and there was much rejoicing!
In reply to maschinenbau :
We've also dedicated JG to full-time announcing duty, so you'll hear live announcing for the autocross and drag race.
See? We do listen at the town halls!
In reply to maschinenbau :
iirc, that was an issue with the track. Hopefully, that has been corrected.
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Yay! JG's PA banter is the best
It's greatly appreciated you guys listen to our suggestions! Should we have hope for the score boards being on/functional?

I noticed (after the fact) that drag announcements are trasmitted via FM, check the timing slips for the frequency.
So, how did everybody enjoy the new PA system this year?
I thought it worked very well. I'm interested if it could be heard in the pits? I honestly didn't notice.

Loud and clear, heard from everywhere. Well done!
There were some areas of the paddock that were more limited for hearing the announcements, but that has to do with billboards and paddock location choice. Otherwise, I think the new sound system worked quite well.
