That 420 "AMG" is still for sale locally... it's under $1000 now. You could sell the wheels and recoup most of that budget.

I used to work for a guy who had a '70's 450SL. He had a Camaro subframe welded in the front (IIRC, he said it was pretty easy) and a small block Chevy with a TH350.
