We've taken to arriving early on purpose to do something local-ish and have more pool time before the parking lot shenanigans happen Friday.
Next year, we're thinking about doing the Don Garlits museum in Ocala on the Thursday before the challenge. They're open 9-5 daily.
Any interest in going as a group? 10 or more drops the price from $22 to $12 per adult.
This is such a good idea-the museum looks really interesting.
If I'm still in FL next year I'm in.

It's definitely worth a visit. If you're into Hemis you may get a semi.
It is worth going to. Such a cool place.
Might be interested, but already planning a parking lot build with another competitor, so may not be available. If I am, I'd be interested.
I think the Garlits museum is fantastic! It is on the south side of Ocala, about 40 miles south of Gainesville. Along with the museum of drag racing, hopefully the group will also be able to tour the adjacent antique car museum. "Big Daddy" knows all about the $2000 Challenge. Some of you may recall that he stopped by during the Challenge drag races about four years ago, to make some demo passes in the "Dream Giveaway" Dodge Challenger.
Great idea! I haven't been through the museum in many years. It was really good!
I once puked right outside the door there. Barely made it out the door. It was some sickness, not the vehicles.
and yeah they have some cool stuff there from what i recall.
