If it was a GT I'd be all over it. I'm trying to not settle for anything, and I don't want another project. If that Portland one was closer I'd be snagging it for sure!

If you get it for $1500, you'd have gas money to get home within your $2000 budget.

True! My wife has some family and we have some friends in Portland, I just don't know if I have the time to do it! Sure would be fun though!

3 day total trip if you do it right.

I flew to San Diego Thursday morning, picked up the MSM, went out of my way to get to Flyin' Miata, stayed for a day, and made it home by Sunday night. Would have been Sunday late morning/early afternoon if a huge storm didn't stop me in Kansas.
Would be far easier to do in an MX6, way quieter and more comfy.
And like i said, you're more than welcome to crash on my couch and we can run it up to the shop and go through it and learn you a thing or two.
I am confused. It does look like a 1st gen to me. Given that he said it has a v6, I'm not sure I trust anything he says. It could very well be an F2T car for all he knows, right?

That's the point. He showed a picture of a 1st gen, then pretty much talked about 2nd gens the whole ad.
Also: that one in Portland has LX badging on the fenders. If you do call, might want to ask him if it's an LX-T or a GT with LX badging on it for some strange reason. This isn't really important from a power/safety perspective, but more to see if it's got GT suspension and brakes vs. LX stuff.
As fun as it would be, I'm not seriously considering the Portland one. I e-mailed the guy in Raleigh to see if he can send me an engine pic. I'll keep hunting Craigslist, hopefully one will pop up around here.

Haha, you're only half as far as I am! Do it! What's up with your MX-6? Is it currently in a project car state (AKA, apart and undrivable)?

Been down since November, which SUCKS, because that thing is NOT a project car. It's my daily driver.
Had a bit of an issue with my head.
And SWMBO facepalmed HARD at the idea of me getting that MX6 in Portland, so that's probably out.
In reply to Swank Force One:
Man that sucks. I didn't even mention the Portland one to my wife, I can already envision the response. Nope, I'm gonna continue my hunt around here. I may even do a search at work through our wholesale vehicles nationwide-for a fee I can get that stuff shipped to me-maybe someone clueless traded one in somewhere and it's just waiting for me!
Well in my case, the facepalm was at the thought of getting another MX6, not that it was in Portland.
She knows all too well that i'd have the car for maybe 2 weeks before i'd do something stupid to it.

Haha...I don't think my wife will ever understand my automotive ADD...she is patient though.
This might work. Terrible paint job, but the seller is going to send me some more pics later. Fully rebuilt motor last summer, I just doubt that I can talk him down to $2k or $2500.
Yeah, not sure if it's the best. Used to be red he told me, and I hate repaints, especially with stupid graphics. He said he'd give me some more pics later, so I'll see what the rest looks like. He's definitely smoking crack on the price.

I wouldn't give it that long

That looks good...burns some oil for sure, but the price isn't bad for a decent stock one. Man I wish one would pop up for sale near me!
Man these things are hard to find! I did e-mail about a couple 626 GTs, but they are automatics. We'll see...

Yeah... you should find a way to make this happen.
