Looking for the whole she-bang from something like a Miata or Civic where the evaporator is in a duct off to the side of the main body of controls. Started piecing together the NOS Opel stuff I've got and can't bring myself to use the 745lb Fridgedair compressor and it's hoses or the condensor and evap with their hose-clamped freon lines. Since I need to piece something together anyway, I though I'd see if someone has the whole system they pulled from something with R134a so I could just make it work in my housings. I know I'll have to buy a dryer anyway, but if I have a whole system to work with it's easier than trying to get individual hoses and such made. Bonus if it's v-belt driven and cheap.
That's just about any import, particularly an asian inport. A whole lot of the A/C kits in them are port installed.
Exactly, and a whole lot of guys here take them out in the name of lightness. Since my Kadett starts out at 1700lbs, I figure adding it back in only helps even it out.
I have a complete system out of an '88 CRX Si-everything except for the button on the dash board. It was driven by a ribbed belt so it may not work for you. It's fairly bulky with the condensor and all so I'm not sure if you want me to try and ship it. I only paid $50 for it and that's all I'm looking to get out of it. Let me know if you're interested.
Sounds like what I'm looking for, any idea what it would run to ship to ZIP 29671? Maybe one box with the compressor and hoses and evap and another with just the condensor? I might be able to get a buddy up in your neck of the woods to fetch as well, or meet you on your wat to the Challenge somewhere between Charlotte and Atlanta and buy you dinner for delivery....
I could actually make use of a couple systems, if there are any more out there available as well.
Shipping would probably be expensive since it would take several boxes to handle the long tubes and then the heavy compressor and finally the condensor. I'm not going to the challenge so it would be best if you had somebody in the area that could pick it all up.
This system is actually out of the old GRM project CRX that was supercharged and featured in the magazine back in 1997. It may actually make your car cooler in more ways than one!
