Since I bought the SBC Ponton, I decided that I need the space that my recently purchased Fiesta S is taking up. It's a late production car (actual 1980 production) with "factory" AC (as I understand it the AC was actually added at dealerships but the cars had to be specifically built for it... I've only seen a handful and none others recently with a complete system. The system here appears complete but isn't working and I have not troubleshot. BAT has new compressers for like $50!)

Extremely solid for an east coat car (came from Charlotte, NC); only a rusty hatch really lets it down. Currently has a broken windscreen but I have a good used one coming that is included in the asking price.

Reportedly ~100k on it... but was sold to my buddy as "mileage exempt" so I can't certify that. No sunroof (I was thinking cloth Webasto)

Pictures: http://fnader.com/Fiesta2.htm

As written up by my buddy who sold it to me:

13"x6" alloy wheels from the UK, originally on the Supersport with RS center caps and barely worn 185/60 Sumitomo HTR-200 tires.

XR2 gauge insert with 140mph speedometer.

Black factory center console with clock (works) (Also has a new "period" stereo and unique Fiesta specific speakers for the front floorboards)

XR2 rear spoiler Rare German RS front spoiler Euro grill German RS three spoke steering wheel (very good condition) Round fog lamps

New Gabriel front struts, and Ford NOS rear shocks New ignition module Rebuilt distributor New carburetor, plus two other used ones New chrome exterior door handles and good interior ones New fuel pump, belts, hoses, and head gasket

The body is very nice with perfect floors. there is one small rust spot where one of the bumper shocks enters the front valance. One small spot under one front side marker light, and one spot inside on the drivers sill. These are bubbles, not rust through. The car has wavy panels on the roof and hood probably from people sitting on them. The bottom edge of the tailgate is heavily rusted as can be seen in the pictures. The interior is pretty good with just some tear through on the drivers seat side bolster.

The exhaust has a new aftermarket catalyst, cherry bomb muffler and dual chrome rear tip, but it was just clamped together for testing purposes and I never got around to having it all professionally welded. .

In addition to this, I'll also include another set of 6 spoke 13x6 RS rims as shown here: http://fnader.com/1979_Ford_Fiesta_SCCA_Race_Car_Rear.jpg (extemely rare as are the rims on the car), all of the carb, stock brakes, 12" rims, and brown interior stuff I have in my Fiesta "stash).

If desired, I can also include a set of new XR2 rotors (meaning you're only $250 away from a full set of XR2 front vented discs which transform the car's braking ability more than I can describe) The rotors have to come from Europe and are extremely expensive to get landed here...

Asking $1800 for everything listed here... if you don't want some of the extras (new windshield, either set of RS rims, etc) I can reduce the price some. It will take me about 3 weeks for a clean MD title... had the NC title signed over to me since I planned on immediately registering and driving the car as soon as I got the windshield replaced.

Thanks! Bill Frederick. MD

Oh my. I really want that. I'm so up to my eyeballs in projects there's no way right now. But, man, look at it. I've always wanted one of these.

I scrounged up the bits for dealer installed A/C for my '72 Capri, and I'm sure you know this, it's not easy. There's not much of that stuff out there. Working or not, having those parts in place is a big deal.

Very cool car. Good luck with the sale!

Fiesta: one of the better looking FWD cars ever made, IMO.

If I didn't want a Miata so bad I would definitely be on a plane to MD for this.

Thanks for the kind words...

I got a "buddy deal" on the car and am not trying to make any money off of it, just rather see it go to a good home where it won't have to park outside...it's too nice for that. Or for Ebay for that matter.

I have no problem in deleting some of the extra parts and making it cheaper if price is the issue... but when's the last time you saw a car like this on the east coast at any price? (And in a nutshell, that's exactly why I bought it in the first place...and if I didn't already have the Snyder Fiesta, this one would definitely be a keeper).

As I opened this I figured that it was another "look what I found on CL" listing.
As the picture loaded my first thought was the typical used car seller (liar) listed a picture from 10 years ago.
As I read on, I see it is your car and presented truthfully. As others have said, WOW.
Oh how I want it and oh how I have no need for it. I almost bought a '79 back in '84 but went with a '83 Rabbit instead.

When I look at the stripes I see that it is 1/3 of the way to Martini livery.

wow, I dont think you should have any trouble selling it at that price.

I have a nice spot in the garage for it, but think swmbo would nix the idea fairly quickly, other finanical priorities at this time, too many things needing done on the 4 cars we currently have, blah, blah, blah........sometimes I miss the days when I was a little more irresponsible with my money. haha.

That's a GRM only price. ;-) If I did end up going Ebay, etc I'd likely try to get at least $2k for it without the extras...

According the Standard Catalog, 1760lbs base (like a few more with AC) More trivia from the same source... POE was $4493 (up tremendously from the base $3680 in 1978 for the same spec car), S package $556, AC $430...

Wow I would have guessed by the way it looks that it was/is a RWD car. What size engines do they use? Very cool!!!

Good for my wallet that you're on the other side of the country .

In reply to Mazdax605:

They used the Kent 1600 crossflow, one of the best engines ever built (same as the original Ford Escort and served as the basis for Lotus and other engines).

A bit strangled in Federal form, but the Fiesta was one of the quicker cars in the late 70's (I recall seeing the $4000 Fiesta compared with the $18k Deloreon) and was the first front driver that many folks in the US ever experienced.

My vision isn't very good, but I don't see the rust on the hatch you are talking about. Is it something that can be fixed or does it need a new hatch?

My mother had one of these many years ago and I loved it.

The rust was well hidden by a coat of fresh white paint (white paint hides a lot) in the pictures... why you should be wary when buying a car sight unseen... it's never going to look as good as the pictures) it has since popped back out.

My intial instinct was to replace the hacth but seeing as all the hatches I found (even in CA) were worse than this one (which only has rust at the bottom and not up around the windows) I now think repair is the best fix.

Almost exactly an hour... be glad to pick anyone up who wanted to fly in, but I can't really guarantee that the car would make a long trip without an issue. Other than the windscreen, nothing I know of that would worry me, but the PO had it off the road for about a year and I haven't driven it enough to get a comfort level.

I can also easily deliver regionally.

oh, you're tempted all right. but you seem to have the realist gene that a lot of us don't have. it's probably what makes you scowl so much.
