Agree on the "well-built????" Sentiment... But I'm also having evil thoughts about combining this with the couple solid AC bugs my buddy has sitting around.

It looks like a FWD Olds Toronado drivetrain, including the odd wheels. That setup is HELL to get parts for!

Those were fairly common swaps in the 70's. I've driven one with that drivetrain (and built a 33 Ford pickup with one in the back also). They are the typical suicide machines, but that's what's fun about it, right?
I can tell you that my Ford truck had a problem with wheel stands. I had to put an old 327 chevy in the front for ballast. The bug I wrode in didn't seem to have that problem, but it's engine was stock and my truck wasn't.
