My dreams for this car have come crashing down as I realize I cant strap in and wear a helmet at the same time. Once again my long waist and stubby legs foil my plans. Im built like Fred Flintstone!
This is the car http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/1984-mazda-rx7/57301/page1/
Unfortunately there isnt a title. I bought it with out one as did the guy before me (maybe even the guy before him). Its been a racecar for awhile.
Just want to get my money back out of it. I will include the 14x6 Momo wheels I just bought for it if I get 1200. I will sell just the car for 900. I will include the spare engine and miscellaneous parts the previous owner gave me for either price.
Will trade for MK2 VWs or a four wheeler or anything else that tickles my fancy
err lower the seat, I have done that with many cars

Its an aluminum seat bolted to the floor. Once I put on my helmet I have to hold my head at an angle. Trust me. Ive been trying to find a solution.
I have several RX7s, how tall are you? I have a friend who is 6'5" who drives a RX7 with an interior.
The seat should be able to go low enough for just about anyone under 6'6"
I'm 6'3" and can just barely sneak into a sunroof car with a helmet on fully upright...on stock seats. Then again, I'm the long legged kind of tall. YMMV.
Im 6'2" with a 30 inch inseam. Like I said- Fred Flintsone.
As I said, its an aluminum seat bolted to the floor, it cant get any lower. By cutting the front cage out and modifying the seat I made it so I can get in and fit fine if I slump a little like I do in most cars. However if I strap in, my head jams into the roof. Ive been in RX7s before but its been awhile and I neglected to take into account the helmet when I bought it.

It's a convertible man. How can you not fit in?

I drive sitting on a phone book and wearing a top hat.
Not much interest so I spent a little time looking at the roof last night. If I remove the sunroof panel and replace it with a piece of sheetmetal and cut out some of the bracing around the sunroof frame, i might just have enough room to rub my helmet on the roof rather than hold my head at an angle. Of course that kind of mod makes the collection of parts even less valuable so there is no turning back if I do it.
If anybody is interested, speak now or forever hold your peace.

I'm off this week and I have tools. I can remove a vertebrae or two for you. Of course that kind of mod makes the collection of parts even less valuable so there is no turning back if I do it.
If you recline the seat some you will get more headroom. push the seat forward then recline and space the wheel if your arms aren't at a comfortable angle
I should not even look at this. I have wanted a RX-7 race car for quite a while. Is this the car that you dragged back to life?
Logdog, I am interested in buying the RX-7. Is it possible to inspect it on saturday?
If interested I've got a nice Sparco Evo seat I'll sell for $225 if you want to go that route, its the larger sized seat.
Wierd. I'm 6'6" (36" inseam) and have had many 7s. I autocrossed a bunch in CS back in the day and fit fine...and raced one in Spec7 in 1999-2000. With the seat on the floor the car was downright roomy.
I am only 6' and have many 2nd gens. With my aluminum seat on the floor, my head is not too far from the roof (sunroof car as well).
I can see your dilema. I know that lots of people in LeMons have cut out the floor under the seat and built a box to lower the seat into. I'm not sure how I would feel about that.

Sold to pilotbraden. He is smarter than me because he brought a helmet with him to make sure he fit!
Set to pick up News Years eve which will make my wife happy so she can have her side of the garage back.

Thanks for representing the car accurately. I am looking forward to monday.
