I've noticed quite a few cars listed for sale that are sitting on a trailer. I figured they just picked it up for a song and are trying to flip it for a handsome profit.
Looks like it has the later Cabby body kit on it and a euro rear bumper. If it has discs all the way around that means they swapped the rear rocco 16v discs onto it.
As long as it's not rotten and it runs, that's a screaming deal.
My oh my. My dad had one new GTI black one in 84 non 16v swap. I got my license in 87. He wouldnt let me drive it and Bought me a 77 non GTI in 87 for 300. Drove for 2 yrs sold for 300. Left for Air Force. I came back in 94 dad had A2 16v. I would love to have the early chassis with a 16v. Only 650 bucks. Doesn't look to rusty either. If it runs or is close to running that's a great deal.
The recaro trophy seats are worth 300 all day long... Looks solid if it has strut towers and a tub left in it. The 16v swap is ironically one of the hardest to do right although it is a period correct thing to do...
I emailed him and haven't heard anything. I have VW friends in Cleveland that could check it out for me too...
He has been sitting on it for a long time. I honestly don't know why it hasn't sold. Seller is pretty well known in the VW Cleveland scene.

Same here! It's even the color I wanted.
