OK GRMers, I had decided to keep this but it's not meant to be. I'm sad to see it go but I simply don't have the time for it. Dropped the price so it can go away!
It stutters a bit during acceleration when it feels like it. Sometimes not at all, sometimes a decent bit.
Clutch pedal is super stiff, i believe it's the cable and a new one is included but not installed.
Temperature light blinks for no good reason. I blame VW electrics. It does not overheat.
Driver's seat is torn and wobbly, back half of headliner is missing.
Speedometer and odometer don't work.
Rear passenger tire only holds air for about a week.
With that out of the way, this car is awesome. It has practically no rust, which is amazing for an Ohio car. The paint is in great shape, PO claims it was repainted in 97. There are a couple of small dings in the driver's door and front fender but they are very small. There are a couple small areas of rust on the passenger rear wheel well and the bottom of the rear bumper. The doors also sag a little when opened.
Odometer reads something like 120,000 miles but the PO believes actual mileage to be in the 150-175K range. We only put around 200 miles on it as the wife didn't like the stiff clutch, stuttering and wobbly seat. Personally, I didn't find any of it too bad aside from the stuttering.
The interior is also in great shape. The only issues are the headliner, wobbly and torn driver's seat, and some stains on the front left side of the passenger seat. The carpet is in good shape and all the trim is there and in awesome shape as well. Even the light in the glove box still works.
As mentioned above the car does stutter when accelerating. Once you get up to speed it's fine, and it only does it under load. I replaced the fuel filter but it only made a minimal difference. The PO let it sit for a year so that may be part of the problem. It is driveable though. Transmission shifts fine, grinds a little into second. As i've heard is fairly common, the shifter is super sloppy. Also has a fairly new exhaust.
Due to the stuttering problem I'd call it driveable but would advise against going very far till it's fixed.

pictures are a few months old but it's been sitting in the garage so nothing has really changed.
Here's the rust, up close and personal:
