Just not finding the time to fix up the MR2, so it's time to find her a new home. Especially since I'm looking for a new home myself, and getting the car count down from four will make the moving logistics nicer. This is a limited time offer as I will be moving. It will expire in somewhere between 3 and 6 weeks depending on how my move schedule goes. Please rescue this car before then.
Location: Coleraine MN.
Details:
'86 MR2 red hardtop with 206,000 miles
Motor was replaces @ 100,000 miles and several owners ago with a used motor. So I don't know the mileage on the motor. Work was done at a shop, and I have the receipts around here somewhere. I can probably find them, but as of right now, am not promising such. Packing to move has made the paperwork situation chaotic.
In any case, the motor is unhappy. always smoked a bit, and as of the fall now has very little power, and blows steam out the back. Not good. Since that happened the only time it's been run was to get it 30 feet to a different parking spot in the yard. If you're lucky it's just the head gasket and the head itself is more or less OK. If you're not lucky, well thee whole car was only $200...
Has the standardish cheap K&N filter mod, but have all of the original parts as well.
Brake master cylinder leaks. (have one for sale, see below). Front brakes good, rears getting old.
When I got it it leaked oil from multiple locations. I found them one at a time and was fixing them until moving to MN where I just haven't had the time needed to finish. It still leaks from at least the oil cooler hoses. (have hoses, see below).
The body is mostly in decent, but not great, shape. I'll try to get some pictures up here in the next day or so. The hood needs to be repainted, but the surface rust on it is all shallow. It's got a dent/crease on the driver's side that it's had all along, I'll make extra sure to get a good shot of it.
The car has AC, but it doesn't work. Don't know if it just needs to be refilled, or not. Living in northern MN, the AC wasn't a big priority for me.
Has crappy aftermarket stereo/tape deck.
The battery seems not to have survived the winter. So it'll need to be pushed/pulled out of the yard and onto a trailer. OR I guess you could bring a battery, but as it hasn't been run in 6-8 months and wasn't happy the last time it was run, I doubt I'd use that option.
This car is not drivable as is. It will need to be trailered. Break out your maps and look for Coleraine, MN. (ZIP 55722) EDIT: Typo on the ZIP code before.
EXTRAS: I was going to lump all these together, but decided that for budget reasons if someone was doing something challenge related this might help. For now, these are being offered to somone who buys the car. If they don't want them, they'll go up for sale separately, but I want whoever ends up with the car to have the option of getting these too.
