if $1500 is the difference between being able to buy and not buy a house then maybe the seller is you can barely get a sea crate for that much

yeah, seeing that a supercharged BP with trans is $1700 The 1.6 with trans and torsion is $1000ish
Why would you do this with a rust free, clear title car? 140k 1.6L motor and tranny go for $2k? I'm pretty sure the last JDM 1.8L w/tranny I bought was $799 shipped to my door.
If someone buys that S/C motorset above and needs a 1.8 crossover pipe, let me know.
... since I am 20 minutes away and I saw this a long time ago, I had to go take a look.
We could not come to an agreement on price. Two days later I picked up a 99 for $1000 that is in decent shape, and $1000 was his low number.
For $500, that would make an awesome lemons car. Hell, the theme is halfway done already.
edit- well, "awesome" may be a stretch. "Entertaining" might be a better description.
I would like to see 2000 out of it since I could get that from the engine and transmission alone.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH another candidate for the "Craigslist crackhead" thread! For a 20+ year old 1.6 with 140k on it!
I'd say all that's good for is as a Locost donor.
...but there's a lot of drugs in central PA... eventually somebody will forget reason and pay his asking price. $500 would be my top bid, maybe a smidge more.

Could be. More that likely hit in both front and rear.
My guess is he found out how hard it'd be to get it registered in PA after dealing with a lax TX DMV.

I was thinking the same thing, but being out in York I'm not so sure.
It's not the registration that would be an issue - as long as it has a clear title, PennDOT doesn't have a verification process to insure a car is legal to drive, so you can get tags pretty easily. It's the inspection that would be tricky. You'd have to find a shop willing to put their license on the line to pass the car. I have friends who live in more rural parts of PA where getting stuff inspected isn't as difficult as it can be in more populated areas.
